Class Descriptions 2024 - 2025

Teeny Ballerinys and Terrific Tappers are our littlest dancers. This class will learn foundational ballet and tap technique in a way that is fun and memorable for their young minds. Creative movement, educational dance games and a sprinkling of other styles (like jazz, lyrical and hip hop) will also be included!

Our Prima classes are designed to encourage the child’s natural creativity while building on the important basics of dance technique. We offer several classes encompassing ballet, tap, tumbling and wee bop hip hop!

Our mini dancer combo classes allow young dancers to gain experience in several styles of dance! Dancers will expand their dance terminology and focus on proper technique, while continuing to grow their love of dance!

We are excited and proud to offer to the community our EVERYbodyDANCE program! This program is designed as an adaptation of dance class for students of special needs and all abilities! Evjen is an all-inclusive academy, so if you would like the option for your dancer (of any ability or need) to take one of our other weekly class options we are happy to work to accommodate your choice.

Elite Flexibility & Stretch

A new class offered at all levels for our Evjen Elite Dance Company members (or dancers looking to take their training further). This class will focus on stretching methods to increase dancer's flexibility as well as proper warm up techniques. Injury prevention, rest & recovery and encouragement of positive self-image will also be important elements to this class. .We highly recommend all of our Evjen Elite students participate!

We offer additional classes, in all styles, at a pre-professional level by invitation only. Dancers who are interested in pre-professional level training are encouraged to contact us to arrange a meeting and audition.

Junior Dancers: Ages 7-9

Youth Dancers: Ages 10-12

Teen Dancers: Ages 13+

Senior Dancers: Elite/Pre-Professional Level/Invitation Only

Classes are offered in all ages, levels and styles. Dancers in our Junior, Youth, Teen & Senior level focus on one style of dance at a time and perfect their technique and artistry through a structured class centered around the technical elements of dance as well as learning choreography and expanding on the dancer's creative expression.

Our acro classes are designed specifically for dancers. We begin training our acro students with strength and conditioning as well as stretching and flexibility to prepare them for acrobatic and gymnastic tricks that will pair well with their dance training. We offer 3 levels of acro, please contact us for class placement.

Our pointe classes range from demi pointe (focused on strengthening the dancer and preparing for potential future pointe work) to advanced pre-professional pointe work. Dancers interested in beginning demi pointe training are required to be at least 10 years old and have a minimum of 2 years ballet technique experience. New pointe dancers must also be observed in class by our ballet instructors to determine their readiness for pointe. Dancers with previous pointe experience are encouraged to contact us for class placement.

Choreography & Improvisation

This unique class is open to our Elite level teen and senior dancers. Students will learn choreography techniques through assignments, lectures and hands-on work in class. Guided improvisation and utilizing a variety of improv methods will aid in the development of each individual dancer's emotional expression, character development and exploration of their own physical strengths, weaknesses and unique style. Space will be given to work on assignments in class as well as the expectation that some assignments will need to be completed outside of the studio. This class is an excellent option for those who are looking to take their training deeper and who might like to consider teaching or choreographing in the future.
