*Auditions June 13-15, 2024
Please note: Auditions* are required for lead & demi lead roles only - your dancer, of any age, is welcome to opt out of auditions & sign up for an assigned corps role.
Nutcracker registration forms are attached below and may be filled out and dropped off at the studio (with the $150 participation fee: cash, check, credit/debit, or Venmo accepted).
You may also register online in your DSP Portal linked below as well.
Dancers will not be considered registered without this payment in full.
Please note: dancers must be registered students of Evjen Academy of Performing Arts for the 2024-2025 dance season and must be enrolled in at least ONE ballet class in order to be eligible for the 2024 Nutcracker Cast List.
*All dancers age 7 and under will be assigned a role. They do not need to audition.
Thursday, June 13 - Day 1: 4:30-6pm Nutcracker choreography class for dancers ages 8 - 11
Dancers will learn the choreography they will audition with. This class is required for all dancers choosing an individual audition, ie: lead/demi lead role
Friday, June 14 - Day 2: 4:30-6pm Nutcracker choreography class for dancers ages 12 & up
Dancers will learn the choreography they will audition with. This class is required for all dancers choosing an individual audition, ie: lead/demi role.
Saturday, June 15 - Day 3: 9:00-10:30 am Nutcracker audition class for ALL dancers.
This class is required for all dancers choosing an individual audition. Dancers will participate in a "typical" ballet class in front of a panel of judges.
Individual auditions will begin at 10:45 AM. Dancers will be assigned a 10-minute time slot, where they will perform the choreography they learned in the choreography class as well as anything else the judges may ask for. Dancer’s are required to arrive a minimum of 30-minutes prior to their assigned slot and be prepared to go early if things are moving quickly. Audition time-slots are assigned on a first come, first served basis, specific time requests can be made, but are not guaranteed.
REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
Nutcracker Choreography Intensive:
*All Nutcracker group choreography is taught at our three-week intensive: August 26 - September 14 (with the exception of Labor Day). A specific rehearsal schedule with days & times will be released after auditions/casting.
*ALL dancers are required to attend our choreography intensive, *Except our littlest Angel dancers (ages 2-3).
Dancer’s cast in a lead/demi lead role should expect to have additional private lessons over the summer/prior to the intensive to learn their roles.
Angels will learn their choreography in class and only be required at 2 additional rehearsals. Exact schedule will be sent after auditions.
Alternating Act I and Act II run-throughs will be held on SATURDAYS, and will begin Saturday, September 21st (after completion of the above intensive)
FULL SHOW run-throughs (BOTH Acts together) will begin Saturday, October 19th. All rehearsals are mandatory.
